Slackware Linux is (according to http://counter.li.org/reports/machines.html) the most popular Linux distribution today. Created by Patrick Volkerding as an attempt to "fix" the old SLS Linux distribution, it has grown into a comple, usable Linux distribution. Version 4.0/3.9 includes such things as glibc2 support (Slackware is mainly libc5 based), KDE, X and many other things.
There are 2 current versions of Slackware: 3.9 and 4.0. They are identical, execpt that 3.9 uses Linux 2.0.36 and 4.0 use Linux 2.2.6.
